Parhelia are an instrumental rock band comprising of Greg Clarke Blessington (Wicklow) on Guitars, Keys & Effects and Cathal Rodgers Banagher (Offaly) on Bass & Keys.
They originally formed in 2006 as a four piece, with Andy Clarke (Drums) & Diarmuid Shore (Guitars/Sampling) completing the lineup. Up until 2010 this was the most active era for the band.
During this time, they released two EPs – First Light (2006), Oceans Apart (2007) and a full-length album Shifting Sands (2009) which saw Philip Clarke replace Diarmuid on guitars.
Parhelia performed regularly in Ireland occasionally venturing further afield and appeared alongside acts such as Anathema, Katatonia, God Is an Astronaut, 65 Days of Static and at an Irish version of the Download festival.
After an extended period of inactivity, Parhelia regrouped in 2013 to record their second album The Precipice of Change.
Following on from that record, Cathal Rodgers and Greg Clarke remain, the band no longer perform live but continue to work on new music. In 2020 they released a new album entitled Celestial Horizons.
